For These are the Things Jesus Taught

I'm trying to be like Jesus;
I'm following in his ways.
I'm trying to love as he did, in all that I do and say.
At times I am tempted to make a wrong choice,
But I try to listen as the still small voice whispers,

"Love one another as Jesus loves you.
Try to show kindness in all that you do.
Be gentle and loving in deed and in thought,
For these are the things Jesus taught."

As we contemplate the trials that we have experienced, and those on the horizon, we can begin to realize how powerful Christ's atonement truly is. He is the most forgiving and loving being in our lives. Feelings of doubt, fear, pain, grief, heartbreak, and rejection will drive people away. We become introverted and self centered.

These emotions can cause us to want to 'lash out' or 'get back' at one another. We move the blame to others. "If he hadn't done 'X' then I wouldn't have said 'Y'". Impulsive actions based on lust, greed, or selfishness push others, and the holy spirit away. We can be victims of diverse circumstances and trials that many times we don't bring upon ourselves.

The way we react to these situations is a true measure of our character.

How amazing would it be if we could just learn to do what Jesus taught? Love one another. Forgive each other our trespasses. Feelings of Love, Support, kindness, and forgiveness will bring people together, and heal the broken heart. People are not perfect. We know this. Why do expect everyone to be? Let us instead have a revolution of kindness. Though others will harm and reject us, let us turn the other cheek, forgive others, and build each other up. For these are the things Jesus taught.
