Last week I talked a bit about how we can strengthen our faith. It comes slowly, step by step over time. We strengthen our faith by doing small everyday acts, like reading our scriptures, praying, and obeying the commandments. This week I've been thinking a lot about what happens when we don't do those things. What happens when stop reading our scriptures, or praying? What if we disregard the commandments that God has set?

Strengthening our Faith
While I've been reading the scriptures I've found that there are many different ways that we can strengthen our faith, and there are some things that can hinder and harm our faith and our spiritual sensitivity. In a very basic sense, when we do what is right we come closer to God. When we choose to sin, we fall further away from Him.
I love the prophet Alma's explanation of faith and how it can grow. He compares the word to a seed.

Faith and Belief
This week I have been studying a little bit about the difference between faith and belief. I found that faith and belief are very different things. Belief in the dictionary is defined as a view, a mindset, or a way of thinking about something in particular. Faith on the other hand is a trust or a confidence in something that we can't see the end result of. Belief is something that we feel and think, but when we have a true trust and confidence in something, we will act on it. That is faith.

What is faith?
Hello! My name is Rob DeBry, I am a Mormon missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Over the past few weeks I have been studying faith in the scriptures, and I would like to report what I have learned and share weekly how my faith has grown. I feel it would be best to start by defining Faith.
